ManilRohit is a collaborative brother-artist-duo of Manil Gupta and Rohit Gupta. They were raised in Lucknow and moved to Delhi in 1998. The brothers started their collaborative work in 2011. They both live and work in New Delhi.
Their works have been experiments in various media like, paintings, photography, sculpture, installation, design, including converting their own car into the popular Public Art Car project called ‘The Holographic Love Machine’.
With the underlying theme of Carnival / Circus, their works are graphic and employ visually dense comic narrative. In their new works, they are also experimenting with contextual shapes for canvases, hand-cut into plywood and other materials.

A note from Nature Morte Gallery Director, Peter Nagy, about their body of works:
“The fraternal duo of Manil and Rohit create crazy, complex paintings that bring together multiple painting styles and subjects both high and low. Exuberant, intensely colourful, and full of humour, the works radiate a sense of joy and youth. The artists employ day-glo and metallic colors to amplify the carnivalesque qualities of their imagery, creating shaped canvases that also could be used as theatrical sets. This is the art of a new, cosmopolitan India, with a plethora of references both international and indigenous.”

The duo have also Conceived, Curated and Hosted the first of it’s kind television show featuring the best in Contemporary Art, Design & Fashion in India, called “The New Creative India”. It was aired on NDTV Goodtimes in July-Aug 2014. Currently they are working on the 2nd season of the show.
